Green Fingers

If there’s one thing JB loves more than that cheeky little train, it’s being outside in the garden. Wether it’s running around after the chickens, or helping daddy digging over the veg plots, he loves the outdoors.
Now that spring is here, it’s time to shake off the winter shackles, and get planting. Which is exactly what we have done. He has helped me dig two small plots, one for early potatoes, which he happily planted, and one for the runner beans.

The little fella has had a wonderful time planting sunflower seeds, and pushing his brand new wheelbarrow around the garden. This has given us a little breathing space in order to plant up an array of fruit and vegetables.

We have a propagation tray full of tomatoes, and another full of good old brussel sprouts. Add to that another tray with bell pepper, kale, cauliflower, and broccoli and you get the idea.

This is by no means it. We have broad beans, peas, carrots and spinach to get in asap, oh and we mustn’t forget we need a few pumpkins for JB. Going to have to find a box so that he can grow a ‘Spookley’.

A couple of days after planting, the little man was eating an apple for snack when he came upon the pips. He questioned me as to what they were, so we put them in a tupaware box in the fridge for a couple of weeks to get them to sprout. Two days ago he potted them up and now they live in the kitchen window so that we can watch them grow.

I still have eight more plots to dig, raised beds to make, a new chicken run to build, (and fix the roof of their house), a lawn to sew, a rabbit run, and a greenhouse to build. Not too much to do eh, luckily I have a little boy who loves to help.

Well, it’s time for me to get back on the garden, this food doesn’t grow itself now does it!

Until next time droogs.

Be dobby, smeck grimly, and skvat jeezny by the sharries droogs!
