#Babyface

As those of you that have been following me for a while know, every now and then, I put myself to one side and bring a good cause to the fore.

One of the main charities supported by yours truly is ‘Cots for Tots’, a part of Wallace & Gromit’s ‘Grand Appeal’. They help children in the UK with medical treatment, and support for them and their families in that time of need.

The reason behind my support is my son is one of the lucky boys, helped by this charity.

Day one for JB, was both exciting, and scary, and this photo brings it all back for me like it was yesterday.

As of today, (May 1st), they have launched a fundraiser called #babyface. This hashtag, runs much like the ice bucket challenge from last year, except you don’t need to get wet and cold again, so that’s a huge bonus.

All you need to do is text COTS40 £3 to 70070 or donate online via This link

That done, now you need to dig deep into the annals of time, and find a cute/funny/embarrassing photo and upload it to Facebook or Twitter, with the above donation information, and the babyface hashtag. Then nominate your friends so that they can reciprocate.

The rules weren’t that clear on wether the photos should be of your little ones, or as I think it should be, photos of you as a little nipper. I’m guessing either way is good, as long as a donation is made, but I would love to see you all as cute little cherubs. Your call.

If you wish to find out more about Cots for Tots and what they are trying to achieve, just click the link provided.

If you’re reading this, then consider yourself nominated. My #Babyface is below. Time to share yours, make a donation, and nominate your friends!

Until next time, be dobby, dig out the photo albums, and nominate all your droogs to help this great cause!

Midweek Message

Its so good to see JB back in the “swing”of things!

After almost two weeks of every illness/virus known to man attacking my wee bairn, you can probably understand why we are now doing backflips and cartwheels in celebration! Well…maybe not just yet, need to build up the energy levels first. 😉

Plague Rages

Last Thursday (April 16th), a certain young man, awoke with what we thought was a couple of midge bites on the side of his neck.

With the warmer weather, the fact that I’d swatted a few of the little punkies, and both mummy and daddy had become victims to these voracious vampires, we thought no more of it.

Later that day, there were three more ‘bites’, this time, on his belly. The following morning, there were 8-10 on his torso, leading to his underarm, three in the crease of his elbow, and three on his knee.

Clearly, this was more than a case of midge bites, this was a case of chicken pox. Well, except they weren’t blistering. Maybe it was just a mild case?

It wasn’t long and my poor little munchkins health began to slide downhill, fast.

Saturday night, my wife called me at work to let me know that she had taken him to the local minor injuries hospital. After a lot of kerfuffle, she had managed to see a doctor who diagnosed him not with chicken pox, but with a possible case of Henoch-Schönlien Purpura (HSP), a rare condition where the blood vessels become inflamed. Read more about it here.

The main thing we discovered, on his visit, that in order to see an out of hours doctor there, we have to make an appointment via the NHS’s 111 service. In fact even ambulance paramedics, and the nurses at the same hospital as the out of hours doctor have to use the 111 service as well, as we were to discover the following night.

Sunday night saw the visit of an ambulance to the house. JB had a severe aversion to light, so much so that he covered his eyes and buried his head in the sofa, which is a big sign of meningitis.

According to reports, I’m not sure who had the most fun, JB or the paramedics attending. Maybe JB at a push when they turned the lights on for him to see as they left. Cheers guys, you rock!

This was closely followed by a trip to the local hospital where JB was diagnosed with ear infection, tonsillitis, and an unknown virus. A bottle of Clarithromycin given, and a pat on the head for being a good boy.

As you can imagine, three days of sleep deprivation had its toll on our health and wellbeing, and we were fast becoming extras for a certain Romero movie, that might happen to be similar to the name of my blog. The fact that there would be another three more days, and we would shortly be promoted to stars of the show is another matter.

Monday morning saw the start of a measles type rash on his chest and belly, which got redder as the day progressed.

Tuesday saw us visit yet another doctor, who seemed to circle my little boy like he was leper, and informed us that there are at least a dozen viruses that give the same rash, and if we wish to get an accurate diagnosis, bloods would be needed and a week to process.

Of course, in a week, it will be nothing but a distant memory, A mere footnote, or maybe a small pimple in the story that is my little boys life. One that thankfully, as I have been told a hundred times, he’ll have no recollection of.

Well now my lovely droogs, it’s about time I left you to your meanderings. If you’re interested in reading more, you could always check out my “lovely” Trip to the Park, that soon turned into a nightmare. Or maybe A Clockwork Thomas, where my son attacks me with a cheeky little engine from Sodor…I’m beginning to see a pattern forming. One where I get hurt…a lot!

Until next time, be dobby smeck grimly, and skvat jeezny by the sharries droogs.

Dohigh.

Midweek Musings

No daddy, I don’t want lunch! I’m digging!

The sun is beating down, and finally I am joined by Percy Thrower on the patio for cheese and cucumber sandwiches.

Gardening should be a doddle this year with all the help I’m getting. Good job too, I have loads to do, as you will discover on the weekend.

We have four new members to the family this week.

These little beauties, are apple trees in the making. JB has been growing these from the seeds he found in his apple one snacktime a few weeks ago.

They sit in the kitchen window, and I kid you not, these guys visibly grow in the time it takes to wash up after dinner!

Hope you’re all enjoying the sun too, and until the weekend, be dobby droogs.

Ēostre

This week we’ve have had loads of fun, making cards and cupcakes to thank all of JB’s friends who will be giving me chocolate eggs.

Obviously when I say me, I mean my wonderful son. Honest!  Of course, he has enough chocolate to last him until next year, unless of course the expiration date is before that, then of course we will have to put it in the bin. 😉

JB asked us if he could paint with the a potato, something he’s obviously done at nursury, as we only use brushes, sponges, and hands at home. To be honest, I hadn’t really thought about using them, but as a toddler he wants what he wants, and who am I to stand in the way of his fun.

He was off and running from the get go, splodging his spud all over the place, and having lots of fun with it. Then out with the glue stick, and googley eyes, coloured match sticks, and foam stickers.

At some point during my extra busy week, some chocolate rice crispy nest cakes were made.

Unfortunately this was the closest I got to these tasty treats. I did, however, get to enjoy making some cupcakes with mini me, and got to try them out!

Could you get any happier?

Two firsts for my little boy, cracking an egg, and using an electric whisk. Both deftly done. Could I be any prouder?

The final product was enjoyed by all my regulars, who come over every Sunday to play at the pub.

I can only assume my little bundle of joy dreams about chocolate for the next couple of months. I know I do 😉

Why not check out a couple more foodie type blogs with the following:

In Dough Boy we make some granary rolls, and in Mr Baker we make some rather delicious pastry swirls.

Until next week droogs, be dobby, smeck grimly, and skvat jeezny by the sharries droogs!

My Bestie and Me

After a long mornings adventure, it’s nice to chill with my pillow, er…I mean bestie!

Today we found an old tyre swing in the middle of the wood, which was great! I was going WOOSHY round and round. But I got very dizzy, and fell on my bum lots.

After splashing in some muddy puddles, I saw some old steam trains, and carriages.

Then I found lots and lots of leaves, and had loads of fun throwing them up in the air!

Daddy caught it all on video! I love watching it over and over again!

Check it out here on Instagram!
I also want to say thank you very much to all my friends that gave me lots and lots of chocolate on the weekend. I love you all very munch 😚
